cULus Listed mark applied to a certified TF Elettra control panel

Certifications

UL 508A and CSA C22.2 certified control panels

Since 2007 we have built and labelled panels to the cULus mark under file E315157, for machine builders exporting to North America.

A control panel built to European standards is not automatically accepted in the United States or Canada. Without a recognised mark, the local inspector can block start-up — and that regularly happens once the equipment has already shipped.

TF Elettra has held UL and CSA certification since 2007, obtained directly through UL Italy. We build panels to the UL508A and CSA C22.2 marks under certification file E315157, verifiable in the public UL database.

Equipment categories we can certify

Our certification file covers several panel categories, each with its own construction requirements:

  • For General Use
  • For Industrial Machinery
  • For Crane Control
  • For Service Equipment Use
  • For Flame Control
  • For Marine Use
  • For Air Conditioning & Refrigeration

MTR qualified staff in UL 508A

Our staff holds the MTR — Manufacturer Technical Representative qualification in UL 508A. This is the role UL recognises as the manufacturer's in-house technical reference: compliance checks happen during the build, rather than being discovered at final inspection.

NFPA79 for machine wiring

Panel certification covers the panel. The machine as a whole must comply with NFPA79, the US electrical standard for industrial machinery. We wire machines compliant from the outset, so that panel and machine together pass inspection.

Frequently asked questions

What is UL 508A certification?

UL 508A is the US standard for industrial control panels. A panel built by a UL authorised manufacturer can carry the UL or cULus mark, which North American inspectors accept without requiring a field evaluation.

What is the difference between UL and cULus?

The UL mark applies to the United States; cULus certifies compliance for both the US and Canada (CSA C22.2). For equipment shipping to both countries, cULus avoids a duplicate process.

How can I verify your certification?

Our certification file is E315157 and is publicly listed in the UL Product iQ database.

Can you certify a panel designed by someone else?

We can build and certify from external drawings, subject to a compliance review. Components or solutions without UL recognition have to be substituted — we flag this before starting.

How much does UL certification add to the panel cost?

It affects component selection, which must be UL Recognized or Listed, and verification time. The impact is modest on a panel designed for UL from the start, and considerably larger on a redesign after the fact.
